API Key Setup

API Key Setup

Create a Roblox Open Cloud API key so AssetFlow can upload assets to your account or group.

Time required: ~3 minutes Required for: Uploading assets

Prerequisite: You must be logged into AssetFlow with Discord first. The app will show a Discord login screen on first launch before you can access any features.

Before You Start

AssetFlow requires a Discord login to use the application. When you first launch the app, you’ll see a gateway screen prompting you to log in with Discord. Once authenticated, you can proceed with setting up your API key.

Step 1: Open the Creator Hub

Go to create.roblox.com/dashboard/credentials  and click Create API Key.

Create the key under your user account, not under a group. Roblox has deprecated group API keys in favor of user keys.

Step 2: Select the assets API System

In the “Select API System” field, choose assets. This unlocks the upload permissions.

Required permissions — assets system

PermissionDescription
asset:readRead / verify existing assets
asset:writeUpload / create new assets

Step 3: Add asset-permissions

Add a second API system: asset-permissions. This allows AssetFlow to manage access permissions on uploaded assets.

Required permission — asset-permissions system

PermissionDescription
asset-permissions:writeGrant access to your assets to other users or groups

Step 4: Select Accepted Resources

Choose what the key can act on:

  • Personal upload only — Select your user account
  • Upload to a Group — Select the group(s) in addition to your account

Enable “Restrict by creator” to limit the key to specific group resources.

Step 5: Paste in AssetFlow

Copy your generated key (a random alphanumeric string) and paste it in the app under Account → Open Cloud API Key. The same key works for both personal and group uploads.

Once pasted, AssetFlow will use this key for all uploads. No need to create separate keys for each group.

Next Step

Set up your Cookie to authenticate your account.
